Chief Economist Qian Keming meets Minister of Rural Development & Land Reform of South Africa

MOA Chief Economist Qian Keming met with Mr. Gugile Nkwinti, Minister of Rural Development & Land Reform of South Africa, in Beijing on October 30, 2014. The two sides exchanged views on deepening rural reform, advancing urbanization and promoting poverty alleviation through agricultural development.
At the meeting, Qian briefed Minister Nkwinti on China''s experience in boosting rural economy and modern agriculture, and reducing poverty. He noted that China and South Africa should strengthen cooperation and learn the good practices from each other, given that many similarities exist in respective agricultural development processes.
Minister Nkwinti extended his appreciation for the helpful information provided by the Chinese side. He spoke highly of China''s achievements in agriculture and said that South Africa is keen to build a closer relationship with China, and promote common development of agriculture and rural economy in both countries.
